I2018 Poznan Travel & Accommodation

Travel & Accommodation

INFINITI 2018 will be held at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Al. Niepodległości 10, 61-875 Poznań, Poland.

First founded as a private college of commerce in 1926, today the Poznań University of Economics and Business is a state university with full academic rights and over 12,000 students (511 of whom are doctoral students).

Poznań itself is an exciting city with over 500,000 inhabitants. It is both a major business centre (supporting the likes of Bridgestone, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, MAN, Nivea, SABMiller, Unilever, Volkswagen and Wrigley to name but a few) and an academic hub (8 universities and 20 private schools, with 130,000 students overall).

For more information, why not have a look at the Lonely Planet’s Guide.

How to get here

Lying halfway between Berlin and Warsaw, Poznań is the capital of the region of Greater Poland, one of the most economically developed regions in the country.

There is an airport (see https://airport-poznan.com.pl/en/) that is very close to the centre and most taxis are reliable and use their meters without any fiddling around. Calling ahead gets you a better rate but if you hail one, make sure that it is a clearly marked cab with a company name and phone number displayed, as well as a sticker indicating prices in the window. On the whole, they are affordable. But Uber also works here.

If you live in Germany or one of the other neighbouring countries, you can check out train connections directly to Poznań’s main train station (Dworzec Poznań Główny).

However, you prefer to drive, just be aware that (according to the tourist brochure received from the hotel during our site inspection) Poland is one of Europe’s leading nations in road fatalities due to a lethal combination of poor road surfaces, networks unsuited to the volume of different traffic, and, most of all, aggressive driver behaviour. We have warned you…
